Dr. MurrayGeneral Surgery,
Fellow of the American College of Surgeons

Dr. Murray is a general surgeon specializing in general, vascular and thoracic surgery with 40 years of experience in the healthcare industry including private practice, administration, consultation, teaching and leadership.

He is originally from Muskegon, Michigan and attended the University of Michigan for both his undergraduate and medical school education. He subsequently did his internship in San Francisco at St. Mary’s Medical Center and his surgical residency at the St. Louise University Group of Hospitals.

He then served for two years in the U.S. Army as a Captain and Surgeon after which he settled in San Francisco; he has lived here for the past 40 years, practicing medicine for the duration.

His career in San Francisco has included his private practice in General Surgery, as well as, at St. Mary’s, 14 years of service as Chief of the Division of Surgery, four years as the Chief of Staff, and 15 years on the Quality Council. While on the Quality Council he held a number of leadership positions and helped develop, manage and oversee performance improvement programs.

Dr. Murray continues to deliver quality surgical care and in his free time, plays golf with his wife and enjoys his four children and four grandchildren.
