Hi. My name is Ingrid Peterson and I am a nationally certified acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist, I am licensed by the California State Board and I have a practice in Cow Hollow/Marina district of San Francisco. I received my masters in Oriental Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College- Boulder, Colorado.
My journey down the ancient and winding road of traditional Chinese medicine began with my love and respect for plants. I spent several years living in Shanghai training as a botanist and exploring the diverse ecologies of wild Yunnan. I experienced first-hand how Chinese hospitals and clinics combine western and eastern medicine, and uses this model in my own practice.
I strongly believe that anyone with the desire to undertake the journey to better health can be empowered with knowledge. My previous career in genetic research gives me the analytical tools to critically interpret and share health-related findings.
I advocate enhancing patients’ health with steps that can be done daily; especially the elegant medicine of an appropriate diet and herbal therapy. I have a particular passion for treating digestive disorders and skin conditions, and sees my role as one of an anti-aging or wellness coach.
I enjoy living in San Francisco because it has so much to offer in the ways of activities, I have been trying on all kinds of hats since arriving in July of ’12. You might find me doing qi gong in the Presidio, biking around town and beyond or exploring the botanical treasures right in the Golden Gate Park.
