Americans do eat too much sugar and most of that sugar comes in packaged and processed foods

You may have heard a lot about sugar in the American diet and how there is so much more of it consumed than in years past. In fact, a recent study done by researchers at the University of California SF, right here in my backyard, suggested that sugar be regulated just like tobacco and alcohol because of its addictive nature and its role in obesity and, subsequently, diabetes. Whether or not sugar should be regulated is debatable but the bottom line is that we, as Americans do eat too much sugar and most of that sugar comes in packaged and processed foods. So, if at all possible avoid eating food in packages and if you do try to look for a sugar level less than 10 grams per serving.
