If you’re trying to lose weight it’s important to consider how much alcohol you drink. 12 oz of beer will set you back 150 calories and a 4 oz glass of wine about 80. If you consider that a healthy average diet is about 1800-2200 calories a day you can see how just drinking 3 beers would be like adding a small meal. On top of that those extra calories from alcohol would be what we call “empty calories” since they are calories without nutrients like vitamins and minerals that are essential for the healthy functioning of the body. For those who can drink the health benefits of alcohol only come with no more than 1-2 glasses per day. More than that and your health risks increase, not to mention your weight.
