There is more and more evidence that what we eat can have a significant impact on our risk of developing certain kinds of cancers. So rather than telling you what NOT to eat here are 6 foods that are GOOD to eat. 1. Egg yolks. Surprise, surprise. Despite the bad press they’ve gotten for being high in cholesterol, eggs from free range, organically fed chickens, with yolks that are more orange than yellow, are rich in the healthy omega 3 fatty acids and in choline, a substance that has been linked to lowering a woman’s risk for breast cancer. 2. Green, leafy vegetables. You just can’t get enough. High in folate they’ve been found to lower a person’s risk for skin cancer. 3. Eat salmon or other fatty fish such as mackerel which are high in omega 3 fatty acids that can lower your risk for cancer and heart disease. 4. Eat more whole grains which are a great source of fiber and can lower your risk for colon cancer. 5. Drink hot tea. 2-6 cups a day of hot green tea, with it’s antioxidant catechin, has been shown to prevent skin cancers and maybe even reverse the damaging effects of the sun’s rays. And 6. Eat a wide variety of colorful fruits and vegetables daily. Studies have shown that the more of these you eat the lower your risk for digestive cancers.
