Hi I’m doctor Mark Savant and welcome to SavantMD. Today’s wellness tip is about mangoes. Mangoes originally come from India and Southeast Asia and are prepared in a variety of ways, both sweet and savory. Mangoes are packed with a multitude of vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants and beta-carotene to keep you healthy. Even the mango peel has been found to potentially have cancer preventing substances. One thing to note however, there is a substance in mangoes similiar to that found in poison oak or poison ivy. So if you get a reaction to one of those, you may have a reaction to mangoes.

I love mangoes! I buy frozen pieces and eat them as a snack or put them in smoothies.
