With Autumn here and Winter fast approaching one of the most common symptoms I’m seeing in my office is cough. A cough can mean several things from an infection, be it bacterial or viral, allergies, asthma or acid reflux. This time of year, however, a cough is usually caused by an infection. If it lasts longer than 2 weeks and, especially if it’s getting worse, you should get in to see your doctor. It’s important to remember, though, that allergies can still happen in Autumn and Winter so trying an antihistamine like benedryl, Claritin, or Zyrtec might be worth a try if you are not feeling sick.
