Acupuncture treatment involves the insertion of hair fine needles into the body, resulting in the removal of blockages or strengthening bodily functions. The needles are placed into specific energetic locations which we call acupuncture points. Acupuncture points lie along meridians or channels where energy (which we call Qi) tends to pool and collect. And these meridians are like a latticework throughout the entire body enervating every organ, tendon, muscle, ligament, bone and cell. There are countless meridians throughout the body but only 14 of them actually have acupuncture points on them, and these are the ones we use in acupuncture. There are about 500 main acupuncture points from which an acupuncturist chooses in treatment.
